I recently tried Anar, a restaurant specializing in Uyghur cuisine. The décor is simple but full of character, and the food is cooked to order, which means a little waiting—but it’s worth it.
Beef Pie to Start

We began with the beef pie: full of flavor and perfectly spiced.
I don’t usually eat pies, but I couldn’t resist this one.
Handmade Noodles
Next came the noodles, and this was the highlight of the meal.

- Quruma fried noodles – richer in taste and probably more suited to Western palates.
- Leghnen Royal – the noodles are cooked simply in water, and you mix them yourself with beef and vegetables.

This preparation really highlights the texture of the handmade noodles, which I preferred.
I enjoyed it so much I ordered a portion to take away.
Beef Stew

The lamb skewers were tender and tasty. We ordered a second round.
Pettir Manta

These dumplings are similar to Chinese dumplings but much larger.
I expected a thicker skin—something between dumpling and bao.
The beef filling was a little dry for my taste.
The owner explained that customers had requested thinner dough and less greasy filling, so they adapted the recipe accordingly.
Dessert

We finished with homemade yogurt topped with dried fruits and nuts.
A delicious and refreshing end to the meal.
Final Thoughts
Most dishes are around 15€, and everything is freshly prepared.
The quality, flavors, and handmade noodles really stand out.
I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of Uyghur cuisine at Anar.
