Èze Village — A Perfect Day Trip from Nice

Views, gardens, a Michelin meal, and a trail with attitude — everything you need for a memorable escape above the Mediterranean.

🏞 Getting to Èze

While many visitors take the train, an excellent alternative from Nice is Bus 82, which goes directly to Èze Village. One single ticket covers the trip.

👉 Tip:

  • Board near the terminus in high season — after Max Barel it’s almost impossible to get on.
  • Sit on the right-hand side for the best coastal views.

🌊 Views Along the Way

Before you even arrive, you’re treated to sweeping panoramas. From Mont Boron, Nice and the bay spread out below — a highlight on its own.

🌵 The Exotic Garden (Jardin Exotique)

Èze’s Exotic Garden is a must-visit. Exotic plants, cacti, and some of the best panoramic views over the Mediterranean.

💡 Practical tip:

  • Buy tickets in advance during high season.
  • At the entrance there are two lines: one with tickets and one without. The with-tickets line is faster.

🍴 Fine Dining in Èze

For a special meal, Èze has world-class options:

  • La Chèvre d’Or (2 Michelin stars) — iconic, with unforgettable sea views.
  • Château Eza (1 Michelin star) — refined cuisine in a spectacular setting.

👉 Reservations are essential in high season.

🥾 The Nietzsche Trail — Hike with Caution

This trail connects Èze Village to Èze-sur-Mer. Despite its famous name, it’s not an easy stroll:

  • ~1.5 hrs up, ~1 hr down.
  • Hilly, sometimes slippery paths.
  • Sea views are nice, but not as rewarding as the effort suggests.

I managed the walk down, but my legs were sore afterwards. I even saw visitors in city clothes struggle — one younger woman ended up in tears after a fall.

⚠️ Unless you’re fit and properly equipped, take the bus both ways.

🏰 Practical Tips & Final Thoughts

  • Reserve the Exotic Garden and restaurants in advance.
  • Bring comfortable shoes, water, sun protection.
  • Give yourself time to explore the cobbled streets.

Èze blends medieval charm, breathtaking nature, and world-class dining. Whether you linger over a Michelin lunch, wander the Exotic Garden, or simply soak in the views, Èze will stay with you long after you’ve left.
